Susán Hoemke is a social activist, speaker, Certified Life Coach (CLC), program creator of IMAP and author of Healing Scarred Hearts: A Family’s Story of Addiction, Loss, and Finding Light.  As a wife and mother of four, her life took an unexpected turn in the form of her son Hayden’s addiction and other subsequent family tragedies that taught her the hard way about Substance Use Disorder and mental health challenges. Hoemke lost her son to heroin overdose in 2014 and now, she hopes to not only bring awareness and education to Substance Use Disorder/addiction but also to offer hope and healing after loss. Her time spent living with an addicted loved one, research, attending recovery meetings, and discovering ways to heal enables her to speak on these subject matters from a deeply personal perspective.

Susán’s national media interviews, speaking engagements, and serving as a panelist on several forums allows her to help many others living in a crisis and find ways to cope and deal with crucial situations. Hoemke has also created the curriculum “IMAP (I Make a Plan): Mapping the Way to Be Drug Free” for parents, kids and educators. IMAP is a simple to use Power Point drug education program that will help kids navigate life with a better chance of a success and reaching goals.  IMAP is designed to mimic planning for a road trip and bridges healthy conversation between teachers, parents and kids.

Hoemke’s speaking engagements and other involvements are: 34th Annual Care Dallas Breakfast, Let’s Talk Opioids/New Seasons Dallas County Treatment, Chandler’s Hope White Chapel, 6th Annual World Convention of Overcomers, Bedroom, Backpacks and Beyond McKinney, Serenity Sobriety High School, Addiction Awareness Initiative Highland Park Highschool, Miracles in Recovery, On-Living, Living Above the Drama, The Old School House magazine review, and Todays’ Honoree.

Today, Hoemke continues to write, speak, and mentor: schools, recovery centers, mental health providers, family counselors, students in recovery, local community, families, and faith leaders to help create solutions for a better tomorrow. She is also the owner of a product development company Proudme Products, and lives in Dallas, Texas, with her husband, Carl, and youngest daughter, Olivia. Her other adult children, Landon and Miranda, live in Austin and Hayden awaits them all in heaven.
